22 Aug 2011 : A DAMN GOOD THUMPING!!!!!
Day dawned bright and we had 11 by the start of play thanks to Dave Rutter and Tim Dolan stepping in at short notice.

There had been a lot of rain about on Thursday and Saturday and the pitch was very wet so when Malcolm won the toss he had no hesitation in sticking them in and it turned out to be a real "sticky dog" of a wicket.

Flash and Tim opened up and kept it very tight early on with Tony picking up one wicket but the scoring rate was miserly. Alan and Graham came on and the wickets started to tumble. 2 fell with the score on 17 and this brought our nemesis Mark Rooney to the crease. This guy normally gets big runs against us but the pitch did not suit him either and Alan tied him in knots for a couple overs before he hit out in frustration and Tim pouched a good catch in the deep. After that it really was a procession with 5 further wickets falling in the 40's before a slight rear-guard partnership of 16 by the last pair got them up to just 62 all out.

3 wickets for Tony and Alan and 2 each for Graham and Tim, all for next to no runs!

With tea still over 30 minutes away Phil and Jack went out to face their opening attack. Despite a few scares they generally kept it simple and safe and we got to tea 26 for no wicket.

After tea Jack (22) decided to get it over with and after one good smack for 4 holed out in the deep and Phil (9) fell to a cheeky off-cutter from the their first change bowler both with the score on 35. Any concerns were laid to rest by Gus and Graham's partnership of 25 waiting for bad balls and punishing them accordingly.

Gus fell before the end but Pete came in and the the game was finished off soon enough. Graham finishing on 20 not out and Pete undefeated on 2!

This was an absolute stuffing dished out in clinical fashion under the stewardship of Malcolm whose innovative captaincy was a revelation.

16 May 2011 : Coopersale earn a fighting draw.

A conference fixture threw up a game against our old friends Capricorn on Sunday and they batted first and got a flyer scoring at 8 runs per over from the start. Graham picked up a couple of wickets but they rate stayed high with some truly powerful hitting assisted by Teflon hands (at least 6 catched going down). Wizard Walsh eventually got rid of the opener for 69 but they continued to score at pace. Flash was called in to the attAck however and in a mammoth 13 over spell collected 6 for 67. In the end Capricorn were bowled out for a massive 268!

Capricorn's catching was the opposite of ours. Sam was brilliantly caught at slip in the first over and Ossie also at slip in the second. Rebuilding was begun by Graham and Phil until Graham (33) was bowled by a ball which went straight along the floor with the score on 77! Phil (33) battled on with good help from John Walsh (24) until they both fell. Mark Rynn (29) continued to resist until until tempted outside of stump.
With the draw being the best result possible, we held on with a bit of a wobble and a fortunate rare error in the field when Flash was put down. After that Fraser and Flash saw off any further threat and we finished on a creditable 166 for 8.
