23 Sep 2013 : The Sun Sets on 2013 season!
As the season drew to a close on a slightly colder and wetter day than we expected, we gathered to try and regain the Harrison Hancock trophy from Anson St George.

We lost the toss and were forced to bowl first. We started with Graham removing Lee first ball of the match and taking a second wicket in that over 0 for 2 after 1 over. We remaind on top for the next 20 odd overs. Chipping away, taking the odd wicket and Sunny bowling very tightly. Towards the end though we lost a bit of concentration and bowled too many wides and missed a few balls in the field. This changed what should have been a 125/130 chase into a 150 chase. Still manageable but it was a damp track and we know they are a strong bowling side!

Harry and Steve got us off to a decent start working hard against good bowling and a seaming ball. We lost Steve LBW and then Harry in the same fashion! Mark got the ball of the season and we were in serious trouble. Graham was sticking it out waiting for the bad ball. Eventually this came and it was hit straight down deep square legs throat. Fraser went next and the Cup was looking well out of reach. Sunny and Alan got us back into the game with a 60 partnership but their fielding was good and the run rate was climbing.

Eventually Alan had to hit out and was caught in the deep and Gus was castled first ball. A few swipes from Malcolm and Colin but the game and the cup were lost again.

The curry provided by Coopersale players and wives which followed was exceptional! We may have over-catered but it was all lovely - Sunny probably made enough to feed both teams, the spectators and half the village!

Thanks to the generosity of the players and Anson's contribution, we raised £165.00 for Help For Heroes which is a great effort.

This has been the best season we have had in years. 20 games scheduled all of which were played and all of which we had 11 players for! We didn't start brilliantly but eventually won 12 games and lost 8. The new players, Harry, Mark, Steve, Sunny, Skudder, Angad and Melvyn have breathed new life into us and made playing a lot more fun again .

So we lost the cup, for once we can say for definite that there's always next year!

Thanks for playing, see you for ground duty!!!

08 Jul 2013 : 4 from 4!!
Coopersale Cricket Club have won 4 from 4 after their recent win against Chigwell and Hainault at Brickfield Road on the 7/7/2013.

Set 160 to win in a 35 over match by the opposition, after Neil lost the toss and was asked to field in the heat.

Superb efforts with the bat by Graham H ( 91 no ) and Steve H ( 37 no ) saw Coopersale home with 9 overs to spare and by 9 wkts.

28 Apr 2013 : First Match
This time next week we will have played our first game! Availabilities are needed for next Sunday immediately.

Ground is nearly ready but the clubhouse is still in need of a lot of sorting out including stocking the bar!!!

Volunteers are still needed to help Gus who has been working manfully to get it into shape. There are a few who have not done anything as yet!!!

If you are able to help let me know asap.

Colin, Flash and I will have the pitch and outfield ready - we just need helpers for the inside.

Lets look forward to a really good year including a sharing of the workload!

11 Apr 2013 : AGM, Nets & Ground
The AGM shall be held in the Forest Gate Pub and we have decided next Thursday at 8.00pm is as good a time as any.

Please let me know if you can or cannot make it.

We have 3 nets sessions left and so far they have gone well. Hopefully we can maintain the enthusiasm into the season.

With the season in mind, the sooner we get up tot he ground the better.

Some of us will be up there from 10.00am this Saturday to start work on the square and clubhouse so please let me know if you can come too as many hands will make lighter work and my back is still iffy!
